Controlling the water temperature of your aquarium is an important factor for the health and comfort of your fish. As fish do not produce any body heat they rely solely on the temperature of the water to maintain their body temperature, thus making an aquarium heater a vital piece of kit.
There are many different types to choose from so it's important to think about the right heater for your aquarium set up. Submersible heaters, external heaters and nano heaters all fulfil different needs. External heaters give your fish room to move around, though if you want to save space outside your tank a submersible heater will be best. For smaller aquariums a space-saving nano heater is ideal.
It goes without saying that the larger your fish tank, the more powerful heater you will require. Heater power is measured in Watts; take a look at our helpful table to select the right size heater for your aquarium:

You should also take into account the size of the heater that you are placing in the tank to be sure to leave ample for room for your fish. However for larger tanks it can be more beneficial to have more than one heater placed at each end to help keep a consistent, even temperature throughout the tank.
At Aquatix-2u we offer a wide range of reliable and affordable aquarium heaters, many of which come with built in thermometers to help regulate a constant temperature. Top brands such as Hydor, Oase, Eden and Interpet are all available from Aquatix-2u here.
